It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we remember Simon Ganet, who passed away this past weekend after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His passing has left his family, friends, and all who knew him grieving the loss of a remarkable young man whose life was defined by love, strength, and connection.
Simon is lovingly remembered by his twin brother, who shared that their bond was unlike any other. As twins, they were inseparable in many ways—sharing similar appearances, voices, and mannerisms—but more importantly, they shared an extraordinary emotional connection and deep understanding of one another. Their relationship reflected a lifelong friendship built on trust, laughter, and unconditional love.
Simon will be remembered for the passions that brought him joy and expression throughout his life. He loved curling, dancing, baking, and most of all, spending meaningful time with the people he cared about. Those close to him recall his warm personality, his creativity, and his ability to make others feel welcomed and valued. He shared a special and loving bond with Annie Hoesly, who was an important part of his life and memories.
Despite his illness, Simon faced his battle with courage and resilience, showing strength that inspired everyone around him. His journey left a lasting impact on family and friends who admired his determination and grace throughout difficult times.
A memorial service honoring Simon Ganet will be held on Wednesday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Congregation Etz Chaim, where loved ones will gather to celebrate his life and legacy.
Shiva will be observed on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ken and Marcey Siegel’s home, 397 Carleton Ave, Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Additional gathering time will be held on Friday at Simon and Annie’s home, 1028 N Euclid Ave, Oak Park, Illinois, with timing to be announced.
Though his time was far too short, Simon Ganet’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always remembered for the love, joy, and light he brought into the world.
